The infant Hellboy was summoned to Earth by the resurrected Grigory Rasputin and a cabal of Nazi mystics in December 1944. The summoning ceremony was interrupted by Allied troops, and Hellboy was found and adopted by British parapsychologist Trevor Bruttenholm.
