Mouri Ran is a highachool girl who is childohhod friends with teenage detective Shinichi Kudo. Ever since his disappearance she's been waiting for his return. She is a black belt in Karate, is best friends with Sokono Suzuki and she is the daughter of Mouri Kogoro, the sleeping detective.
