Dende is a gentle and soft-spoken young Namekian. Like most Namekians, Dende is peaceful by nature and as one of the youngest of his race, Dende was originally introduced as a shy boy, barely talking unless needed. Despite this, Dende was shown to have a strong loyalty to his people.
