Liu is very diligent, a real no-nonsense kind of guy. He'll only loosen up if he feels comfortable with you, whether that involves alcohol or not. He's got a lot of unresolved trauma, but he does his best to not let it bother him—unless there's something, or someone, around to remind him of it.
