Rafayel was the God of the Sea of Lemuria, an underwater civilization similar to mermaids/merfolk. When he was young, he was stranded on the shore and saved by a young human, a girl whom he forms a bond with. Once bonded, Lemurians are loyal for life and thus his affection is bonded with her.
