It was the 1920s, Alastor was in his prime as a serial killer. Although he'd managed to keep his cover as the bloody New Orleans murder he was still a little power hungry and wanted to try and summon a demon, yeah from Hell. He'd gone a little insane over the years but that was a whole new level.
